Junior Handling Classes                         Judge: Sue Heward (Eskamere)

Class 27: 8-11Years

  1. William Croxford – William demonstrated a close attention on his dog, being vigilant in ensuring a good show stance. He was aware of the judge and moved himself to ensure the judge could maintain a good view of the dog. He knew the age of his dog and was able to properly show the dog's mouth. He moved his dog according to the judge's requirements.
  2. Matthew Simms
  3. Calen Taylor

Class 28: 12-16 Years

  1. Tanya Bailey – Tanya demonstrated a calm and professional manner. She was clearly in charge of her dog, which concentrated its attention fully on her. She was able to demonstrate her dog's mouth. She handled the dog to show off it's movement to best effect and positioned the dog and herself in a good show position.

It was nice to see a number of younger exhibitors interested in improving their showing skills, in the Junior Handling Classes at the Norwegian Elkhound Open Show, held on 27th September. As you can see by the accompanying photos they are getting to grips with showing their dogs in an increasingly professional manner. Mr. William Croxford won the Barlestone Junior Handling Trophy for 6-11 year olds and Ms. Tanya Bailey took the Bowerhinton Junior Handling Trophy for 12-16 year olds and also the Strinesdale Puppy Dog Tankard for the Best Junior Handler. With young handlers with a calm demeanour, a good relationship with their dogs, and an interest in exhibiting, the future of Elkhound showing is assured.
